Tora- the views of this country differ greatly, and even more so with the truth. The people of Tori see Tora as a resource to be collected, a valuable ally in wartime to be sacked later on. The people of Ryu see Tora as a threat, a distant foreign nation even though they share a land boundary. The people of Kame see Tora as a trade partner but not much else, and regard it with fear due to recent boat raids.
But, in reality, in the eyes of the people who inhabit the place, it's not much different from Kame. A place that depends on the ocean, on the skill of its fishermen and the build of its ships. At least the Tora people like to remember was like Kame.
The truth is, no one is right.
Tora has no single true self.
On one hand, its dedicated hard working yeomanry is an admirable lot, and on the other, few know the true face of the Tora nobles. Ever since Tora Fortress closed its gates and the darkness spread...
...killing the fish in the water, blighting the coastlines, turning stone to scraggly rock, throwing prosperity into sufficiency.
Tora is a single landmass, the lower section of the island Honshu. The shores are rocking in places and smooth in others and have the most dense population of any other place in Tora. Moving inland we have sparse settlement. When it comes down to it, Tora is a living thing... but only a portion is living. It's as if there were the coastline, and the capitol, and that was it.
The people of Tora, until recently, were a very thoughtful bunch, enjoying quiet time and an opportunity to relax and ponder things such as the spirit world or other places born from their imaginations. Now, almost everyone has gone off to the army, or is working day and night. There is no more time nor surplus enough for the people of Tora to remain... human.
It is frightening, what a shadow and an officer can do to the best of people...
