Roiyaru Dorei
It's nighttime. All the samurai from your troop have retired to their personal chambers. That includes you. You preferred the first few weeks here, as at that time there was no curfew, there were no responsibilities. Now hostility has been expressed somewhat and you're no longer truly safe.
Jirou has ordered that the squad be fully rested in the mornings, so even now, at a meager 20:00 you are sent off to your room.
Your room is a simple ten foot by ten foot cube with one of them new fangled hinged doors. There's a switch by the door than controls the single, weak bulb that hangs from the ceiling by a strand of cord and a hook. Your cot occupies the most room in the place, but you don't really mind. It's a lot nicer than the bedrolls you had to use on the hard ground on your way over here. The cot is nice- it can be used to recline on during the day or to be slept on at night. It's large enough for three people to sit side by side on the edge of it should a soldier want company.
Other than that your room is rather sparse. All your warrior's equipment- mainly your sword- lies propped up against a corner on the far end of the room. An ornamental boukken [practice katana] lies on above your doorway, out of your natural reach. There is a fluffy pillow on the ground. Two books lie on the floor next to your bed, borrowed from a fellow soldier who had great taste in literature. You've already read through both books multiple times this journey, but when you're not tired and forced to retire to your room, what better do you have to do?
Your room is on the side of the military building and thus has a sliding paper screen that opens to reveal a large, wide window. Through the window, all you can see is farmland.
___ You are not tired, it is still early. You are not hungry. You were fed soldier's ration earlier in the evening.
You hear footsteps outside, on the other side of your door. Your window is currently closed.

Footsteps? It’s after curfew, must be Jirou. Hmm. Not tired at all. I switched the light on and picked up the nearest of the two scattered books. I flicked through the pages. Damn, I already know these books off by heart. I put the book back down and wondered over to the window.
I pulled the screen back and stared out the window, I couldn’t see much. The orange sky cast shadows over the farmland for as far as I could see. I opened the window and inhaled the air.

Suddenly the footsteps, not having faded away, come to a halt right outside your room. You hear a rapping at your door.

Who’s there? I ask. Without waiting for an answer I walk over to the door from the window. A large thud could be heard as I trip over one of the cushions littering the floor. Eventually I get to the door and open it.

You swing the door open and find not Jirou but another Samurai. You recognize him as Torue, one of the younger warriors in your group. He is clad in a simple blue gi and hamaka and carries on his shoulder a boukken.
"Hurry and let me in, Roiyaru-san," he says, quietly. "If Jirou-dono catches me out here, I'll be mince meat! I came to tell you something... please, let me in!"

"Sure Torue-kun" I unblock the doorway by moving, allowing Torue-san to enter. Once he had got into my room, I quietly closed the door over. "Take a seat Torue-san. Anyway, what is you have to tell me? Couldn't it wait till the morning?" OOC: Drat, stupid low creativity

OOGM: It would be Torue-kun, but whatever Dorei"No, Dorei-san. I'm sorry... I lied to you. I have nothing to tell you. But I... must ask you something instead. Tell me... how strong am I?" This being said, he pointed his boukken at you and gestured to above your door, where your room's practice katana lay.

OOC: I said kun... Anyway...Sorry for this very belated response. IC: Dorei"A fight?" I ask, staring from his boukken to the one above the door before slowing settling my gaze on Torue-kun. "We'd make too much noise in here...why not go outside? We could use the window." I knew that if Jirou-dono caught us we'd both be in trouble, but I didn't want to have to tidy the remnents of my room up. I stood on the end of the cot and reached over to my boukken. I

OOGM: it's ok. Sorry bout my belated response, been out of internet.
Dorei
Torue smiles.
"Good idea."
And so saying, he walks over to your window, still oppen, and jumps out. You're on the third story, by the way. You hear his voice from outside.
"Come on, Roiyaru-san!"

"Well, If he can do it I can do it" I mutter, as I walk towards the window. I leap out of the window and feel the wind pushing against my body. About 3 seconds before impact I curl up into a ball-like figure and roll across the floor once I land.
"So then, time to get started?" I unsheathe(sp?) my boukken and hold it in front of me.

"Yeah, let's go."
But just as Torue levels his practice weapon and charges, he stops abruptly as a kunai embeds itself into the wall between the two of you. It seems to have come from a high place, based on its angle to the ground. It is quickly followed by two more, aimed so that they bounced off the first and lodge into the two of you. Your respective right feet (you and Torue) are pinned to the ground, and bleeding a bit.
Torue curses and drops his boukken.
What do you do?

"What the hell?" I curse aloud and try and the find the assailent(sp?). "So emm...should we try and pull these out?" I ask, my voice tinted with pain" Dropping my weapon, I wait for a response.

Torue grunts in pain as he pulls the kunai out of his own foot.
"This is a greater test than I had expected," he says. He actually sounds excited. "Show yourself!" he yells in the direction the kunai came from.
"Give me one reason not to kill you," a raspy voice answers from the neighboring rooftop. A dark silhouette can be seen against the evening sky.
"Cut the bullshit," Torue says, in a low, dangerous voice. "Or I'll cut you up!" And so saying, he draws his real sword from its sheathe at his side and leaps up to combat the figure on the rooftop. But he never reached his goal. He falls back to the ground, kunai embedded in his body every five inches. His blood soaks into the ground, and he doesn't stir. His katana (the real one) lies in his weak grasp a few feet from you.
"Now... give me one reason not to kill you," the voice says, clearly indicating you.

"Because emm...there's a samurai standing behind you!" I exclaim. Hoping he calls my bluff, I pull the kunai out of my foot and leap towards Torue's dead body. In the flash of an eye I grab his katana off the floor and throw it in the figures general direction.
"Have...to...get...help" The thought kept going through my mind. With that insentive I sprinted back towards the building. I knew this guy wouldn't give me a second chance. That is, if he missed his first chance.

As you run around to the front entrance of the building, thinking to yourself that you did it, suddenly someone jumps down right in front of you and swings. You manage to block with your dead comrade's katana, but your opponent's followup kick knocks you to the ground.
"Who'd have thought. A big city samurai, trying to trick a country ninja. Did you think I was an idiot? Huh?" He kicks you in the head, rather painfully. Then your hand. The katana goes flying.
The guy kneels beside you, grabs your collar.
"You overestimate yourself, and underestimate others. This means there is a three level gap between the two of us." He grabs your foot, the one where the kunai had been. Squeezes. Blood gushes out.
"Hmm, you seem to have quite a bit of endurance," he says, with a different tone of voice. "Endure this, please."
And with that, he punches you in the face and you black out.
When you wake up, you're dizzy and your vision is blurry. You're in a small cell, supposedly underground judging by the earthen texture of the walls. You're aching all over. A small wooden bowl full of mush is lying next to you. There's a small grate above you that the moonlight comes in through. It seems to be nighttime now. In front of you is a barred door, and on the other side, a rather fierce looking dog. You are not bound. Oh, and you smell like blood.
