OOC: It's weird really. On some of my school computers the seem to be so, and on others they are normal.

OOC: Going to put in a last second post. It’s bloody 2.00 in the morning, and I’ll be leaving this weekend, so if I don’t post now I’d have to wait till Monday. So that’s what a gi jacket looks like! There’s a change of perspective on Jame’s character –in a good sort of way; he seems nobler now, in my envisioning him.
Keijin Seiichi
The man returns the introductions and announces himself to be called Akira. Keijin made sure to remember it. This was the first man on his travel to speak so freely, and something about him seemed important, though the young warrior couldn’t put his finger on it.
The man yawned and grabbed for something to eat. "The day has been long, and my tired body knows it. I believe I shall eat and then rest the night away, our raucous company permitting."
He didn’t pay Keijin any more attention as he enjoyed his dinner in absolute silence. He seemed to crave some rest, so Keijin was satisfied with remaining silent as well. He joined his new acquaintance by digging up some dried rations of his own, chewing on it as his eyes wandered through the room and his foot tapped the wooden floor in a slow and relaxed rhythm. He always did that; sitting entirely still came hard to him.
As his eyes wandered through the bar, past two samurai who had decided to have a go at one another with their swords, over the gathered faces of all kinds of warriors with many different emotions, he paused at the young lad who just entered the tavern and was haggling with the innkeeper. At first it was just the green of his clothing that caught a spark of Keijin’s interest, it being his favorite color, but the more he looked the more the young man himself drew his attention. He was young, maybe just over fifteen, and seemed to be injured, leaning heavily on his staff.
Keijin’s curiosity was stirring, but his travel worn body refused. The dry and meager meal he just had, set of his fatigue. He leaned back to let his dinner settle for a moment and to rest his eyes, fully intent to inquire to the newcomer in a few minutes. In a few minutes though, he was snoring deeply and far from silent, vast asleep on his bedroll.
OOC: Like I said, gone till Monday, so just let ‘m nap a little or role-play him as you see fit.

OOGM: I'll think of something don't worry SeiichiYou are full and have a day's worth of food left. AllSleep doesn't take too long to find you, tired as you are. AkiraYou wake early in the morning to find all in the room asleep. The green clad boy is nowhere to be seen. The two sparring samurai both look rather beaten up. Everyone is snoring, including the fat innkeeper. Having just woken up, you are neither tired nor full. Some water would be nice but you'd need to ask someone where you could get it unless you want to drink out of the ocean. Keijin is lying on the floor next to you, looking peaceful in his sleep. Peeking through a crack in the wall, you can tell its pretty early- the sun has only begun to rise and it isn't bright nor hot out yet.

Akira
Waking from a decent slumber, Akira arose from his bedroll with the crust in his eyes and a parched throat as he looked around, dismayed that no one had yet awoken. He peaked outside through a crack and noticed it was still early morning - the stars had barely set themselves.
Thinking it was of no use to stay among such rude company, he walked over to the one person he knew anything about, the miner Keijin. He grabbed his shoulder and pulled him up, whispering, "Come on. Let's head out to our destination. I know you really don't like the other company here..."

OOGM: Last update until next Wednesday, I'm afraid, due to the internet limitations at my mother's house.
Akira
You attempt to waken Keijin Seiichi... unsuccessfully. He is in a rather deep sleep. It almost seems... unnatural.
___ OOGM: Not as in the GM is keeping him asleep. Remember what I told you James, GMs make things happen... I merely used Saurus' absence to extend the plot for you a bit.
And perhaps Seiichi's slumber isn't induced by my GM power. :X

Akira
Akira stood up as he whispered under his breath, "Perhaps the spirits wish for me to take a path separate from this boy. Or perhaps the morning is too young for him..." And so, instead, he strolled over to the fat inkeeper and nudged him from his slumber, asking, "I'm sorry to bother you, sir, but might you be able to tell me where I may get some fresh waterl, as my tongue is dry, and where the main part of the draft might lie? I can never slumber again once I wake up, so I should be heading out now."
Then he stood above him, wating for the tired man's response.

Keijin Seiichi
Dreams of rivers turquoise flow Ever larger hence they grow Like giants of wood in clothing of green Through lands of fog and roads never seen
Keijin snored and twitched slightly in his sleep. Vague dreams fleeted him as he came to awareness. The fatigue of the journey had left him, but it was still early, and he wasn’t exactly known as a quick awakener. Very slowly his eyelids opened, picking up the first light of day seeping in through cracks and crevasses. He heard a familiar voice and turned on his back. The first voice was the man named Akira, he finally recognized. The other probably was the innkeeper. Keijin understood every word perfectly but was still too tired to register them. With a heavy hand he rubbed through his eyes, banishing the blur. Then with returning vitalitly he sat up straight.
Akira was indeed conversing with the innkeeper, asking directions and the like. Keijin watched a few more seconds as if a though was trying to sink in to his numb mind. Then finally he realized he had intended to travel a while with this man, if just to learn a little more of him. After all, last night he had seemed noble and strong enough to irk Keijin’s curiosity. With somewhat lumbering movements the young warrior gathered his possessions and hung his Kusari-gama over his shoulder. Then, with still clumsy and heavy steps he moved over to the bar where the two where still talking.
“A good morning.” He spoke, running a hand through his messy hair, and furthermore remaining silent so not to interrupt the innkeeper.

Akira
The inn keeper stirs a bit and mumbles "center of town" before drifting back to sleep.
All
The inn keeper's words, while quiet, seem to have a tone that in some way disturbs the sleeping ear, for, while he speaks, two of the closest samurai on the floor toss and turn a few times before going back to sleep.
Suddenly, you both make out something that hadn't been there before.
A man sits in the corner, legs stretched out, hands in lap, wearing a rice hat low over his eyes. After the exchange with the keeper, he leaps up and removes the hat. You recognize him from before, he is the lad who had come in limping, but you can tell he has no real injuries from the acrobatic way in which he raised himself from his sitting position.
He looks at the two of you with hard eyes.
"If you want to live," he says, picking up the katana of one of the sleeping samurai, "you will not join the Defense Corps."
He does not unsheathe the blade but he holds the scabbard with his thumb pressing against the sword's hand guard, ready to slip it out and use it in a flash.

Akira
Akira noticed the young man in the rice hat across the room stand as the inkeeper finished murmuring something. He also saw him ready a katana at his side and murmur, "If you want to live, you will not join the Defense Corps."
Acting on instinct, Akira lept back away from the inkeeper and to the back of the room, next to the freshly awakened Keijin as he thought to himself that he should have expected a catch in the free shelter. He spoke quietly to Keijin, so that only he could hear the conversation. He said, "Hey, kid, the man in the hat over there is bent on keeping us from joining the Defense Corps, and has indirectly threatened to kill those who seek to join. A fight is imminent, you and I versus him. Now these blades of mine, as I stated, are ineffective against sturdier, heavier blades, as the break easily under stress. They were made only to hit flesh after all.
"Hence, we eed to work together. Your chain will suit our purpose nicely here. Try your best to keep his sword busy so I might be effective with my quick strikes, but hesitate not to harm him yourself. Now, when I run at him, I will run duck in front of him before the attack. I trust your skills enough to put a distracting shot o'er my head with one of your weapon's ends. I'm putting my life in your hands. Disappoint me not, though for now, we should try to delay him."
And after he spoke to Keijin, Akira lifted his head and called across the room, "Speak, sir! Why do you thus warn us against joining the Corps? What is so dangerous about it that we may die from joining? It's unlikely Kame would kill those it is drafting for the purpose of its own protection. Or perhaps you seek to stop us not for our own good, but for that of whomever you represent? Do you wish to see this nation to suffer continued plunder? Pray, sir, if this is so, who has put you to such a task, and how do you plan on achieving it? Note, kind fellow, that around you are a throng of brash, hot-headed men knowledgable of blades and war seeking the Corps for glory and honor. Do you think they'd respond so kindly to your death threats on those destined to join? Do you think that you, one man, can ttake on a room of proud, angry samurai? Methinks it be unwise sir; I suggest you know your place and leave."

All
"Heh... you sure seem to think you know what you're talking about," says the man. "As for what the truth is, you know far from it. I do not threaten you... or, I don't believe so. Why do you ask your companion to ready himself against me?"
Damn, this guy's got sharp ears.
His body seems to blur, and then in a flapping of cloth, he's standing between the two of you, arms crossed in front of his chest, hands facing outwards, katana against Akira's throat and the scabbard at Seiichi's.
"The samurai in this room are just fated to die, whether by the hands of Kame's enemies or by the hands of those who even Kame doesn't know of. You two... stand out. So... what will you do... will you join the Defense Corps... or will you come with me?"

Akira
"He's fast," Akira thought to hmself of the stranger's body flicker. Yet he knew he himself had a trick up his seeve. He stated aloud, "Kind sir, I care not for these sleeping vagabonds and their destined deaths." Then, in a flicker of his own, Akira himself disappeared, replaced by one of the samurai's sleeping forms. second later, Akira crawled out from under a pile of rags a few yards away.
"But, kind sir, do tell us what you have in mind for us before you threaten us with death if we refuse to venture with you."

Akira
"Kawarimi? Excellent, you have some level of skill. Now tell me, can you do anything except run away? Because if Kawarimi is all you can do... you should thank me for this disruption!"

Keijin Seiichi
Keijin gasped when the stranger vanished in a flicker to reappear right in between him and Akira, a scabbard uncomfortably close to the young warrior’s throat. Even his breathing faltered as he froze on the spot. His grip on the sickle and claw of his chain intensified in reflex, turning his knuckles white. He had heard of these techniques before, but never had actually seen them. For all he knew they were deformed tales spread amongst drunken miners.
"The samurai in this room are just fated to die, whether by the hands of Kame's enemies or by the hands of those who even Kame doesn't know of. You two... stand out. So... what will you do... will you join the Defense Corps... or will you come with me?"
It was hard to gather the stranger’s words while he was threatening him with a sharp blade. Knowing that a wrong reaction would likely be his death Keijin stood silent, still unmoving and his eyes staring sideways, locked on his assailant. Then Akira made a move of his own, vanishing as the attacker had to reappear a few feet away, having switched places with one of the sleeping samurai.
"But, kind sir, do tell us what you have in mind for us before you threaten us with death if we refuse to venture with you." He stated.
Keijin’s eyes widened in puzzled surprise. He had thought himself skilled in combat, but when he faced these powers he couldn’t help but be humbled.
"Kawarimi? Excellent, you have some level of skill. Now tell me, can you do anything except run away? Because if Kawarimi is all you can do... you should thank me for this disruption!"
Kawarimi. Was that the name of this skill? Keijin began to realize he had to make a move of his own. Being threatened by the stranger he vastly limited Akira’s combat options. He didn’t want to be a burden and never would be if he could help it. On the other hand, their as of yet merciful adversary was fast. This was extremely dangerous. Keijin swallowed his hesitation and decided on a move.
The one thing Keijin prided himself on most was his speed with his blade, even though now that seemed rather relevant. Still, it was the best bet he had. In as fast a move as he could he folded backwards through his knees, pulling himself away from the scabbard, and in the same move brought straight up the claw end of his weapon, aiming to lock the hand that held the scabbard in the claw’s razor sharp blades. As an afterthought Keijin realized such a mutilating and provoking move was probably not the wisest thing to do, but he had never learned to fight defensively, and it was already too late to change his momentum.

"I knew I could trust the kid," thought Akira as he looked at Seichi prepare an attack and as he untied the sash binding his jacket around him and slipped it a ways down his shouder. He began to run towards the intruder, having removed his jacket entirely and trailing it behind in one hand. He lept forward, planting his free palm on the ground in front of the stranger and throwing up his jacket with the other hand. Using his momentum, he brought his legs around so as to sweep out the stranger's.
